Who Wants Eternal Snows?
Feb. 1st, 2014 12:00 pmAt this point I have 7 left, I am finished with my gathering for the day, and I have leveled up and Exalted the two dragons for whom I did not have a place. So I am unlikely to earn more than a couple more throughout the day, even if I worked on leveling up the couple of new young adults I have.
If you have enough left that my 7+ would let you buy a Festival Favor, I will send them to you, either now or (if you want to gamble that I'll earn a couple more) later in the day.
(Really, gathering is a much more efficient way of getting the festival things, at least for me. I have tromped on a number of Bluefin Chargers and got nothing but urchins and beast hooves as a result. I think I earned two whole Snows in the arena, but I found enough to buy the apparel, the familiar, and the bracelet by using all of my gathering in Ice this week.)

Date: 2014-02-02 06:38 pm (UTC)You're clearly much more of a Coli expert than I am! The only thing I can do with Coli that gets me the results I expect is leveling up young dragons to Exalt. I get killed a lot in Forgotten Cave, which is the highest level I've tried.

Date: 2014-02-02 07:20 pm (UTC)I also use those dragons to quickly level other dragons--if I fight in the Waterway with two of them and one level 1, I can get it up to level 4 or 5 within 10 minutes. :)
I recommend equipping your dragons with Rally, whihc increases their strength, and Eliminate. Pop Rally on the dragons, hit the opponents a couple of times to get their HP down, then slam 'em with Eliminate. :D Allows me to often fight 1 or 2 levels above the dragons' level--admittedly, I've poured lots of stats points into Strength--until I hit level 17 at which point the Arena was fine but the snowy wastes beyond are still terribly difficult.

But if you take a high-level team (with the n00b) into a much-lower-level arena, the EP is like 0. I tried it early on and gave up on the idea. Then, because you said it here too, I tried it again on Sunday, and it really doesn't seem to work. I wonder what's up?
I also don't seem to get treasure any more often by using a high-level grinding team. Is it just that you get the same treasure in less time?
I usually level up the fledglings by putting then with a team that's near the top of the levels for a given area: two level 6s for the Woodland Path, for example. I usually only take my "sacrifices" up to 5 (or sometimes only 4 if I hatched them out myself and so didn't have any outlay, really). I'm not really that into the combat, but it's something mindless to do, like playing Solitaire ... except that I still get emotionally involved if they mash one of my dragons. This is why I don't generally play video games.

Date: 2014-02-05 02:33 am (UTC)Two of my 17/17/18 level dragons can handle the Waterway by themselves--I've been giving them points in the stat distribution recommended by this grinding guide so they're seriously heavy in Strength. Other dragons that I've been more balanced on aren't as good. The Waterway gets a level 1 up to level 4 in 10 minutes or less. :) Once they hit level 5, though, it starts taking longer.
Is it just that you get the same treasure in less time?
Yup. If you one-shot opponents, you can get through fight after fight after fight in a sort of Zen-like trance. I listen to podcasts while doing it, if I'm bored and fidgety and can't sit still long enough to read. Or listening to Udemy.com courses that I've got for work (the visuals are basically Powerpoint slides with a voiceover that I can lsiten to while going zap...zap...zap).
I currently own 3 dragons that I intend to level up for exalting...but I still have a ahrd time doing so. XD Too much like "He went to a farm!"

I hear you. But I like to try breeding them, and no one wants the babies, so it's what I end up doing. I give them special names because they're dedicated to the deity ... it still kind of icks me out. We need new players to take the miscellaneous young dragons, but the servers are having trouble as it is. :-(

Date: 2014-02-05 02:53 am (UTC)Also, I was trying to scout the auction house for cheap dragons to level up and exalt...and fell in love with her. Isn't she pretty?
The lesson I have leared from this: stay away from the dragon market or I'll just fill up my lair!
Re: grinding & levling in coli
Date: 2014-02-05 02:59 am (UTC)Bwah! Yes, she is pretty!
I have the same problem, which last night resulted in her and her. Because I needed a blue shades "neon wings" female, and of course, two is better, right? I mean, the Pearlcatcher is prettier but the Skydancer has an Underbelly!
I'm hopeless!
Re: grinding & levling in coli
Date: 2014-02-05 03:04 am (UTC)I've recently got this female, who looks like a Chomiji dragon. ;) And a couple of days ago I couldn't resist this guy, nore this guy. The Pearlcatcher is such a butterfly, and the Mirror looks like ocean surf at night.
So I"m as hopeless as you!
Re: grinding & levling in coli
Date: 2014-02-05 03:18 am (UTC)OMG, the Mirror is amazing! (I'm glad to see someone else likes Mirrors!)
Hmmm, if you would like to set up an assignation for Cookie with Oren sometime, they could make beautiful green babies together! Although the underbelly might come out funny, if inherited ... well, no, that would be OK too: the predictor is showing all shades of yellow and gold for the tertiary. They have the same secondary, and they have almost the full range of greens in their possible primaries.
Aww, look, they even both have Moth familiars!
(Arava might get jealous.)
