Secondary Brainstorming

So I am saving up for a genemod to one of my favorite older dragons:

This is Vardina, my 9th-level Pearlcatcher:

Her potential male co-spouses have shimmer or eyespot secondaries; the other females in the same sub-clan have stripes or seraph.

I have been dreaming of getting her eye spots, and the rose eye spots I've checked out on other dragons are adorable. But there are no freckles in the mix. Should I go ahead with freckles instead?

This forum thread explains dominance behavior of the genes. Freckles vs. eye spots is close to 50-50, but freckles vs. shimmer is more than 90% freckles vs. only 10% shimmer.

(Of course, those are only just general odds. And yes, by those odds, one of those four spirals I just hatched should have had a seraph secondary ... .)

I'm not saving up for shimmer. Shimmer costs about 400K treasure, vs. 90 - 125K for freckles or eye spots ... or stripes, but I have enough stripes in the mix.

Personally, I love eye spots and dislike freckles (in almost all cases).

I think the freckles can work in certain cases (earth tones, for example), but I'm not sure I like them in Vardina's rose coloring.

I'm a big fan of Freckle though I know it's not popular.

I think it really can work in some cases (greens, earth tones, maybe some greys), but I'm not sure I like it in this rose pink.

On the other hand, sometimes I just get caught up in the breeding game. And end up with a bunch of hatchlings to handle somehow!

I always think that you should pick the genes that *you* want, or that you want more of. If you want more eye spots or shimmer wings, you should probably get eye spots. But if you want freckle, get freckle! You can check out Pearlcatchers with rose/freckle wings in the site search, so you should be able to judge ahead of time.

Yes, I did that ... I do like the freckle in some colors, but not so much in the rose. The rose/pink seraphs are a bit much too, and I may end up with some. Woez!
