Coatls Tale
Mar. 20th, 2014 09:33 pmSo I was saving for Coatl scrolls. Holy crow, are those things expensive!
I had about 25% of the price of one scroll saved up. And I had more than 150 gems, mainly from familiars.
And I saw a perfect "Neon Wings" male Coatl baby in the AH for 100 gems.
So of course, I bought him.
Do you know, I can probably match him up with a mate AND expand my lair again for the treasure I've got saved plus my next several days' earnings?
The economy of this game makes no kind of sense ... .

Date: 2014-03-21 11:45 am (UTC)I did end up buying scrolls to jazz up a number of my older dragons in the past few months, but mostly I've bought hatchlings. I get into trying to find beautiful little dragons at cheap prices!
But my lair was getting full again, so I thought I'd scroll up some of my existing dragons. But then ... .

Date: 2014-03-21 06:14 am (UTC)I pay for scrolls because I don't want to let go of the cheaper dragons I bought when I was starting out. They're precious to me. It's definitely not because it makes any kind of economic sense. ;)

Date: 2014-03-21 11:52 am (UTC)I would have said I'm the same — I mostly gened up my older dragons so that they are all double-gened, for example. But I feel strange about the breed changes. I've only done that once. It's like they wouldn't still be the same dragons if I changed them that radically?

Date: 2014-03-21 11:50 am (UTC)To a large extent, I feel the same. But I also feel weird about changing breeds. I've only done that once (changed Khiananit from a Spiral to a Mirror when I decided I didn't really like Spirals after all).
Mostly my emotional picture of my dragons is really bound up with what shapes they are. Yarok should be imposing and a little ponderous, for example, and I really can't see her as a silly bubbly Coatl. Does that make any sense?
But I wanted to try having some Coatls. So ... .
I should probably just get rid of some of my newer dragons to which I don't have any firm attachment. But I bought most of them for various long-term breeding plans.
There sure are a lot of ways to play this game!

Date: 2014-03-21 02:07 pm (UTC)I tend to buy gems, but I do online surveys for small amounts of cash and have always followed the personal rule that I can blow survey income on online games if I want (or Amazon gift certificates, if I'm so inclined at payout time), so I don't feel guilty about it. :D
