OK, What Does That Latest Game Update Even Mean?

So now, when we get defeated in the Coli, the Beastclans get points? Or what?

At first I thought it meant that we could start having beasts the way that we have dragons, but I guess not?

And what's that biz about watching those new familiars carefully? Do some of the familiars do bad things now?

Seems a bit like the so-called barbarians in Civ (the computer game series). I'm not sure what the purpose is, either.

I think it's to encourage more exalting, and thus prevent stagnation and boredorm as everyone has full nests of dragons they don't want to exalt and can't sell.

I dunno, I guess this is where my INFP-ness comes through. My instant reaction to that is if you have to manipulate me to participate, then I don't wanna!.

Truthfully, I don't worry a lot about my Nature clan standing. Y'all are my clan.

Even now that I know how to get my n00b dragons up levels faster, training/exalting is still a pain.

Yeah I signed up for my flight's exaltation mailing list but still only vaguely try. I think they're relying on a relatively small group of dedicated exalters to buy up everyone else's dragons.

I have no idea whether this is a mechanics thing; I suspect that it's just a way to get people to participate in Dominance more actively, thereby exalting more dragons which will somehow Help The Economy.

(I'm not doubting that it will, it's just hard not to hear the capital letters.)

Training/exalting is still a pain. I don't usually give two hoots about the Dominance standing. :( Apparently I am not the type of player they're looking for.

Oh! I don't think it's that you're not the "right" sort of player at all - as long as you're playing and having fun, that's what matters, right? But for the flights who are big into dominance pushes, this adds another layer of interest; and for those who might be on the fence about dominance, it might entice them. For the rest of us - well, if I happen to end up benefiting from those dom bonuses (including lair expansion discounts!), you know, I'm not turning up my nose, haha.

(Not that we probably will earn those; Wind Flight isn't huge into dominance, despite being one of the largest Flights.)

And yeah, training and exalting - well, it could be easier :P Or at least drop better loot! I feel like just about every coliseum venue outside of the Kelp Beds has got better drops >.>

I am only just venturing into the Harpy's Roost. My two toughest dragons are 22nd level (recently), and their first 10 levels or so were not done optimally (I kept trying to build them like RPG characters, with well-distributed stats). I don't seem to get all that much loot except during festivals, but that's probably the only time when my patience for extended grinding is sufficient.

Oh yeah, I made that mistake with my first coli team - I'd assumed that's what you'd want, you know, distributed stats. Not so apparently! I use Culex's leveling guide now though and have got a team of 25, so farming and raising exalt fodder is less obnoxious (although there's nothing to be done for the repetitiveness of grinding :P).

Do you want me to level your dragons the rest of the way? I normally charge for the service but if you can provide your own stones and/or don't mind if I don't bother, I'd be happy to do it.

Awww, no, but I appreciate the offer! Between leveling young adults for exalt and holiday grinding, I do get some progress. And of course, in the way of human beings, the extra effort makes me very fond of my high-level dragons. They're a father-daughter team. I really need to bring another dragon (likely my matriarch Yarok) up to their level.
